The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival kicks off Friday afternoon at 2pm with music and continues with the opening ceremonies starting at 5pm. Music and entertainment continue until 12pm. Racing starts on Saturday Morning at 7:45am and don't forget the Optimist Breakfast that starts at 7am and runs till 11am. Racing continues all day with the championship races at around 5:15pm. The next Superior Days Planning Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19 at the WITC Superior Campus Conference Room at 12:00 pm (noon). The Superior Campus will be connected to WITC-Ashland (Room 305) and WITC-Rice Lake (Room 130) via IP Video. Lunch will be served at the Superior Campus only. (Trattoria Buffet: a variety of freshly prepared sauces, Italian sausage, meatballs, and assorted pastas, served with Caesar salad and garlic bread.) The cost is $7.00 per person. The Douglas County board formed a citizens group to review the current and potential future uses of the Douglas County Fairgrounds and Speedway. They will meet the first Wednesday of each month at 4pm in the Government Center for the next several months. These meetings are open to the public.
